Richard Grenfell-Hill is Chief Economist at Diageo plc, providing detailed macroeconomic, tax, trade, regulatory and value chain modelling, analysis, forecasting and technical advice for strategic decision making on a global basis. During the pandemic he also modelled infection rates and the evolution of vaccine programs on reopening economies. However, his main specialism is in indirect tax economics, regularly conducting tax workshops around the world, at industry and government level. He holds an MSc in economics from Birkbeck, University of London with a distinction for his paper on the transmission of house price shocks on business financing decisions and has completed the Comparative Tax Policy and Administration Course at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Richard is a Vice-Chair of the Economic Policy Committee for the Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) at the OECD and of the Society of Professional Economists (SPE) in the UK. He lives in London, is married with two children and is a keen equestrian in his spare time.
